Ford Mustang Mach-E Sales Moving Online Because EV Buyers Are Internet Savvy

Apparently, Ford’s research suggests that people looking to purchase an electric car are 6 times more likely to have buy online.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Seems To Present The Same Tesla Model Y Design Flaw

Even though Ford is an established automaker with a vast traditional dealer network around the world, it’s still embracing change when it comes to the way it sells its cars. This is the case for the Mustang Mach-E electric crossover which will get its own bespoke order dashboard so that it can be purchased online, because apparently that’s where EV buyers acquire most of their cars.null

First Drive: Rivian R1S Is the Most Lustworthy SUV Debut of the Last Decade

by Michael Frank

There was a time not too long ago when gasoline wasn’t quite so precious. In that prior era, carmakers who’d grown bored of merely making SUVs (a.k.a. station wagons on stilts) started to scratch their heads. If SUVs were in fact replacing sports sedans, why not actually make them sporty? What followed was an arms race: The M division of BMW began making X5 and X6s that were as fast as their much lighter and lower sports coupes. Porsche came out with the Cayenne, then the Macan. Jaguar chased after them with the F-Pace. Eventually, we got the $240,000 Lamborghini Urus, a supercar in everything but shape that could gun down 60 mph in 3.1 seconds and race to 190 mph top speed. Of course, its 12/17 mpg city/highway fuel economy is atrocious—though if you have that kind of money, who cares, right? Maybe you still do—especially when, for $90,000 you can have a Rivian R1S.

The first Lucid Air – the luxury electric car certified for more than 500 miles of range – will reach find its way to a buyer’s driveway next month. Silicon Valley startup Lucid Motors has started production of the cars at its Arizona factory. It expects to make its first deliveries in late October.

About the Lucid Air

The Air is slightly larger than a Mercedes-Benz E-Class and is available in four trim levels ranging from $77,400 at the low end to over $169,000 for the range-topping Dream Edition (sold out for 2022).

The EPA certified the car for up to 520 miles of driving on a single charge just two weeks ago. That figure makes it the longest-range EV on the market. It bests the Tesla Model S Long Range, the prior record-holder, by more than 100 miles. Lucid claims it is the fastest charging as well, adding up to 20 miles of range per minute, though no agency tests those claims.

The Company Behind It

The company launched in 2007 as Atieva, initially focused on designing electric powertrains for other manufacturers. It rebranded as Lucid in 2016 and announced the Air as a premium electric car. Lucid focused first on producing a car for the high end of the automotive market. It may expand into less-expensive models as it grows.
Lucid sells cars only through its website. The company operates a small number of “studios” in high-end shopping districts. There, buyers can see the vehicles before ordering directly from the manufacturer.
Starting a new automaker is one of the steepest challenges in the business world. Lucid’s approach is essentially the same model that rival Tesla followed as it grew into a successful company that delivered nearly half a million cars last year. It’s also the model Rivian has adopted and used to deliver the first electric pickups to reach buyer driveways earlier this month.

Toyota Tundra

Image

Toyota Tundra Capstone

The outgoing Toyota Tundra was one of the last trucks we’d recommend if luxury was high on your agenda, but the new Tundra Capstone has flipped that notion on its head. Clearly, Toyota is no longer content to only go after off-road enthusiasts and those seeking a basic workhorse. For starters, you wouldn’t want to risk scratching the Tundra Capstone’s 22-inch chrome wheels by taking it off-road. The body wears a lot of flashy chrome, and you enter the cabin via automatic running boards.

aOnce aboard, you’ll be astonished at the leap that Toyota has taken from the previous Tundra generation to this one. The Capstone comes with semi-aniline leather upholstery, the same material you’ll find on upper-spec versions of the all-new Lexus LX.

genesis

Even a year ago, we probably wouldn’t have known what to put down as the best electric luxury SUV on the market. But since then, Genesis has created one of the best small luxury SUVs in existence, and it just so happens to be an all-electric affair.

The 2023 Genesis GV60 is marvelous. Riding on the same platform that underpins the also-excellent Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, this compact EV is loaded with luxurious trimmings, whether it’s the intricate knurling on the switchgear or the fact that the shift dial turns into an orb (for pondering) when the vehicle is turned off. It’s no technological slouch, either, with available biometrics that allows you to start and drive the vehicle with nothing more than your face and fingerprint.

2022 Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT

The best performance luxury SUV

Porsche has long had a lock on the performance luxury SUV market, producing some properly prodigious models. But none is quite as wild as the Cayenne Turbo GT.
The Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is the first SUV to carry Porsche’s vaunted GT badge, which is reserved for its highest-performance vehicles. There’s a twin-turbo V8 underhood making 631 hp and 626 lb-ft of torque, enough to shove this large SUV to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds. But the Turbo GT is no drag-strip dandy; it has the suspension chops to carve canyon backroads with anything else wearing that GT badge on the back. You’d have a hard time finding this kind of performance envelope in most other manufacturers’ non-SUV lineups

The crowded and growing luxury compact SUV class is no place to pinch pennies, so just three years into its current production run, the Corsair is receiving significant investment from its maker, Lincoln. The strong-selling entry-level Lincoln Corsair SUV gains several hand-me-down technologies from pricier Lincolns, including the Auto Air Refresh cabin particulate-matter purging system from the midsize Aviator, and Lincoln Active Glide (Ford BlueCruise) hands-free highway driver assist from the max-profits Navigator.

2022 Alpina XB7

The best full-size luxury SUV

In the car world, it’s not very hard to have your cake and eat it, too. Of all the largest luxury SUVs on the market, none exemplifies that as well as the Alpina XB7.

Alpina is BMW’s resident zhusher-upper. Starting with the BMW X7 as a platform, Alpina massages the three-row SUV until it’s even more luxurious and even more powerful. Its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 makes 612 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, yet it still rides better than most vehicles, even with some honkin’ wheels and thin tires. Slap it into Sport mode, and the XB7 will do a better impression of a sports car than some actual sports cars. It’s a hard act to top, truly

  • Genesis announces plans to produce the Electrified GV70 in the U.S.
  • Genesis Priority One, a personalized GV60 purchase experience, now open to clients in select U.S. markets

NEW YORK, N.Y., Apr. 13, 2022 – Today, Genesis premiered the Genesis X Speedium Coupe at Genesis House New York, a cultural space in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. The concept car incorporates Genesis’ DNA, while looking ahead to the next wave of EVs and highlighting Genesis’ future as a luxury electric vehicle brand.

The brand also announced plans for U.S. production of its upcoming Electrified GV70 SUV at its manufacturing facility in Montgomery, Ala. Production is set to start in December.

In a series of electrification-focused announcements, the brand also revealed its GV60 Priority One program for U.S. consumers.

Envisioning a new styling convention for the future

The Genesis X Speedium Coupe was born out of a “freestyle” design exercise based on the Genesis X Concept.  Luc Donckerwolke, Genesis Chief Creative Officer and 2022 World Car Person of the Year led the initiative. It embodies the timeless Genesis’ design philosophy, Athletic Elegance, in an even more progressive way.

The name Speedium was inspired by the Korean racetrack in the city of Inje and the passion for motorsport it inspired in Genesis designers. The name also encapsulates Genesis’ belief that the emotional value of driving will remain strong in the era of electrification. The addition of the word “coupe” further accentuates the enjoyment of driving through aesthetic designs.

Genesis followed the principle of reductive design, or “less is more,” for the concept car. The Genesis X Speedium Coupe stands out for its restrained elegance, clean lines, and subtle curves.

The model challenges the status quo of a defined car type. It is not a conventional concept car that previews plans for the production lineup.

“This car is an open-door moment in Genesis’ journey towards our future EV design,” said Luc Donckerwolke, chief creative officer of Genesis. “This isn’t a show car — it’s a look into our design processes as we explore ideas for the next wave of EVs, one that incorporates Genesis’ DNA.”

On the front of the vehicle, Genesis’ signature Two Lines lamps have evolved into a full-width element that encompasses the shape of the crest resembling the Genesis Crest Grille. It was designed to carry the brand signature of the wing face for the electrification era by integrating the daytime running lamps with the low beam and high beam together. It carries an EV face that symbolizes Genesis’ transformation towards becoming an all-electric car brand with a six-model lineup by 2030.

From an overhead perspective, the hourglass silhouette highlights the car’s passion and character. The curvaceous and sensuous form accentuates the wheel arches creating muscular presence.

Viewed from the side, the Parabolic Line extending from the front to the rear of the car maintains a certain tension in the design as a classic car would. The deliberate “anti-wedge” design culminates in a streamlined look that exudes understated elegance.

Meanwhile, an elliptical tail balances out the look for a visually engaging tension between convex and concave surfaces in the rear. The V-shaped brake lights interrupt the circular shape by producing the striking contrast that is one of the hallmarks of a Genesis vehicle.

“We are giving each design element space to breathe,” said Donckerwolke. “It’s not about making the design elements compete with each other, but about orchestrating the elements so that they complement and respect one another.”

Kia EV9

Image

Hyundai’s LA Auto Show concepts include more than just a lounge on wheels. As Autoblog notes, the related Kia brand has unveiled the Concept EV9 as a peek at the possible “next model” in its electric vehicle lineup. The angular design language is a centerpiece, but the real highlight may be technology that, in some cases, eclipses the EV6. For one, the cockpit is dominated by a single 27-inch display that covers both driver and passenger needs — it’s not as huge as the Hyperscreen in the Mercedes EQS, but it’s more expansive than the EV6’s dual 12-inch panels.
You can also expect solid performance with up to 300 miles of range and 350kW charging that brings the Concept EV9 from a 10 percent charge to 80 percent in 30 minutes. The Concept EV9 won’t outlast a Tesla Model Y, then, but it might deliver

The Mahindra BE.07 will be a pure electric vehicle developed from scratch and like all other electric SUVs, it will be underpinned by the brand’s new INGLO platform. Capable of several body styles, the INGLO platform will support battery capacities from 60 to 80kWh. Moreover, it will also support 175kW fast charging and will be able to charge the battery to 80 per cent in 30 minutes. While the exact specifications of the BE.07 are not known yet, the automaker has revealed the overall dimensions of the SUV. The BE.07 will measure 4,565mm in length, 1,900mm in width and will stand tall at 1,660mm. The BE.07 will be positioned above the BE05 and will be longer by 195mm. However, the wheelbase of both cars will be identical at 2,775mm.Unlike the other SUVs that sport a coupe-type silhouette, the BE.07 will have a tall stance with a flat roofline, squared wheel arches, long vertically placed LED DRLs, and identical tail lamps. However, the production-spec model is likely to differ from the showcased prototype. The cabin will be festooned with modern tech like edge-to-edge displays comprising three 12.3-inch screens, a panoramic sunroof, over-the-air updates, and a heads-up display.

Kia K8 cadenza

Image

Kia is undergoing a renaissance of sorts, heralded by a new logo, streamlined alphanumeric model names, a focus on electrification and crazier designs than ever before. The first production model to wear the redesigned emblem and fresh design language is the new K8 sedan, which replaces the Cadenza in the lineup. Sadly, the K8 won’t come to the US, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still ogle over it.
Making its debut Tuesday, the K8 is about an inch longer than the outgoing Cadenza, which was called the K7 in other countries, but no other dimensions were announced. Kia is positioning the K8 both as more of a premium offering and more of a sports sedan than the Cadenza, which is apparently reinforced by the name change.

Rolls royces Spectre

Image

British luxury automotive icon Rolls-Royce has unveiled the marque’s first fully electric car, the 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre, billed as the “world’s first Ultra-Luxury Electric Super Coupe” and the “spiritual successor” to the Phantom Coupe.
Rolls-Royce announced in 2021 that it would transition to a fully electrified product line-up by 2030. At the same time, the company revealed that the Spectre had begun on-road testing. In April of 2022, the Spectre completed its winter testing close to the Arctic Circle.
Finally, with the camouflage removed, Rolls-Royce has debuted the Spectre – the culmination of a century-plus-old prophecy made by one of the marque’s founders, Charles Rolls.

The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Jeep® Wrangler Unlimited 4xe (JL) returns for the 2023 model year. It continues to feature a turbocharged 2.0-liter (GME-T4) inline-four-cylinder integrated with two electric motors, and a 400-volt battery pack, delivering 21 miles of all-electric range, 49 MPGe, instant torque, and nearly silent off-roading.
The Wrangler Unlimited 4xe continues to offer a traditional body-on-frame design, front and rear 5-link suspension system, solid axles, electronic lockers, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and E-Selec driving modes, including eSave mode that reserves battery power for later

Jeep has outlined its aims to lead the rollout of hybrid and electric vehicles in markets including Australia, despite slow-to-react governments and lagging emissions regulations that have held other car makers back.

Speaking to Australian and Asian media in a roundtable event earlier this week, Jeep brand CEO Christian Meunier described how the American off-road brand won’t wait for other car makers to launch hybrid and electric vehicles before introducing its own, nor will it wait for governments to strengthen emissions targets.

“Governments are starting to strengthen regulations and [emissions] compliance, and instead of just waiting for the governments to rule … I would like to have a proactive approach in those markets [including Australia and Asia] and bring electrification upfront, because I think it is very special and very exciting for the customers.

“I am going to push for electrification as a leader, not as a follower. We’re not going to [be] after the other [car makers], we’re going to be first, and we’re going to do everything we can in all [global] regions,” Meunier added.

The commitment to electrified vehicles in the Asia-Pacific region – comprising Australia, New Zealand, South-East Asia, and other nations and areas – comes as Jeep announces its goal for 70 per cent of its sales by 2025 to be electrified, using either mild-hybrid, ‘conventional’ self-charging hybrid, plug-in hybrid or all-electric power.

cadillac.

Image

Cadillac was once the benchmark for luxury in the automotive world, but decades of increasingly rich competition have whittled away at its dominance. The automaker hopes to reclaim some of its forward glory as it moves into the electric-vehicle (EV) age with the unveiling of the Celestiq concept car.The prototype Cadillac showed features a red interior, and the automaker will likely offer several color choices. The cabin seats four in a 2+2 format with an extended center console, and the rear cargo area is open to the passenger compartment as it would be in a hatchback. The Celestiq’s interior is otherwise show-stopping, with intricate patterns in the leather seats, hand-brushed metal trim pieces, and deep-pile carpeting.
Cadillac focused on the top end of luxury cars with the Celestiq but still managed to incorporate sustainability into the process. Cadillac tanned the car’s leather with a procedure that the automaker says uses up to 40 percent less water. Also, the carpeting integrates eucalyptus to cut down on synthetic materials.
Cadillac hasn’t detailed the car’s tech specs yet, but it’s clear there won’t be a shortage of screens. Beyond the digital gauge cluster and infotainment display, the screen stretches 55 inches—the entire length of the dash. Cadillac used cameras instead of mirrors in the car, the images displayed on screens built into each door. A unique glass roof can shift its opacity from transparent to frosted and offers a separate “zone” so each passenger can set their desired light preferences.
The Celestiq will also debut a new Ultra Cruise feature for Cadillac. It’s an evolution of the Super Cruise system and should offer hands-free driving in up to 95 percent of scenarios. The system relies on radar, lidar, and cameras to form a picture of the world around the car to make decisions on lane changes and other driving maneuvers.

With a $300,000 price tag, the Celestiq won’t be for everyone, and Cadillac wants it that way. The brand views the car as more of a piece of art, almost like a collectible, than it does basic transportation. The automaker does not expect buyers to use the Celestic daily, which makes sense for such an expensive, customized car.
Cadillac is the source of information in this article. It was accurate as of July 22, 2022, but it may have changed since that date. Always confirm product details and availability with the automaker’s website or your local dealership.

Stuttgart’s only been represented in the ‘GT’ series for four years.
PlayStation gamers and car enthusiasts, every few years, get a little squishy with the reveal and release of a new Gran Turismo driving simulator. We’re now closing in on seven titles with the latest aptly named GT7, which comes out on March 4, 2022. Porsche took its turn to create a Vision concept, and this is what it came up with.
Porsche partnered with development studio Polyphony Digital on the project for Gran Turismo, which the German manufacturer has been a part of since 2017. The designers love this mission, considering it frees them from the regular restraints of building a production vehicle.
