Unveiled in Shanghai at the 5th China International Import Expo, the Honda e:N2 Concept previews the next generation of electric cars by Honda in China. Exuding a totally different aura than the cute and bubbly Honda e, the e:N2 concept takes its styling from the e:N GT Concept that was unveiled last year.

Planned for China only, Honda’ e:N series was first previewed via three concept cars last year, namely the Honda e:N SUV Concept, the Honda e:N GT Concept, and the Honda e:N Coupe Concept. Honda aims for its lineup in China to be fully electrified by 2030, and fully electric by 2040. By 2027, there will already be 10 e:N models by Honda.

According to Honda, the newly unveiled Honda e:N2 Concept is in a new class of its own in terms of body style. The Chinese press are calling it an SUV, but its jacked-up ride height and fastback-like body style really remind us of the Polestar 2.

No information has been released on the powertrain and battery system, but we are informed that it is built on the “Honda e:N Architecture F” platform. Through the videos released, we can also see that the Honda e:N2 Concept runs a front-mounted electric motor that powers the front wheels. As with most electric cars, the battery pack sits low on the floor in between the wheels. The batteries also look taller in the rear, hinting at a raised second row of seats.
